those of you who have read this blog and looked at my pictures for a little while know that i tend to “over-share.” i should really only be putting my best stuff up on the blog. if you never see the missed shots, your impression can only made from the best stuff that i present here. this concept makes total sense to me. i get it. 100%. the problem is, i just can’t seem to do it. i don’t know why. anyway, this might be another one of those times … or maybe its one of those times that i should have let the picture marinate, let it sit for a couple weeks without looking at it and then come back to it and see if i still have a strong reaction to it. really, i should let ALL OF MY PICTURES marinate before i show them … ALL OF THEM.
i went to the grand prix (in long beach) last weekend. i am not a race fan but, i thought it would be fun and a great place to shoot, especially people! however, the fact is that i shot very little and my battery died … not usually a problem because i have a back up … but i left my back up at home, out of my camera bag … so when the grand prix got crowded, i was without a camera. to see how crowded it got, see the image below … this picture was taken while coming down the stairs from one of the bridges that allows you to get over the track. i get anxiety from this picture for 2 reasons. 1. i hate crowds and 2. look at all the people available to photograph! UGH!
this next image is the one that maybe should be marinating before appearing on this blog … i love this picture, but i love it because i know the story behind it … i was walking behind the grandstands at the grad prix and i noticed this guy. i thought he looked interesting with his hat and buttons so i thought i’d take his picture. well, as i was approaching him i saw him reach into his pocket and pull out a small plastic flask, unscrew the top and take a nip … i was there at the right moment to catch him sneaking a sip from his flask … stoked (sidenote: someone needs to buy this guy a cooler flask … this looked like a “travel-sized” bottle of lotion that he washed out.)
